INSPIRED BY SERIES | COURTNEY KREEBER | CREATING A ONE LAYER SCENE WITH DEPTH | COPIC COLORING

In 2020 I started a series on this channel and I wanted to share who inspired me and how I use that inspiration in my craftroom.

I've featured three really wonderful artists so far in this series. I love to find inspiration in other creators. I watch YouTube videos as a second hobby, I think. I've watched lots of creators go from relatively unknown to I can't believe you aren't a subscriber known!

This month I wanted to focus on Courtney Kreeber. I've been watching her since she had just a few videos up on her channel, maybe 10! She is featured on the Honey Bee Stamps Design Team, Simon Hurley Design Team, Miss Ink Stamps Design Team and has been a guest on so many more. The growth of these creators is really inspiring, Courtney's channel has grown very quickly and her content is the reason why; she is amazingly talented. (Image Property of Courtney Kreeber)

She has a way of creating a one layer scene card rivaled by few. She will teach you about perspective, shading and gives money saving tips and tricks. Her coloring skills are phenomenal. Her style is simple one layer not always CAS.
I created a one layer scene card based off the principles you could find on any one of Courtney's scene card videos. I chose this image above and the coordinating video because it clearly showed depth and layers in the scene.

I'd encourage you to check her out if you have not yet subscribed, I'd really encourage you to do so. She has a lot to teach.

Here is the link to the video I was inspired by and reference in the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D3bhUyXZenI&t=624s

Confused about why I named it all Delaney Jane Cards if my name is Renee’?

This entire thing, shop, YouTube channel, blog, etc, it is all named after our angel daughter who passed away in 2013. I made her some promises when she passed away. I would spread joy, I would make her proud and I would speak her name daily. This is one way we choose to honor her memory, and help me keep my promises. Thank you for stopping by, I really appreciate those of you that take the time out of your day to spend a little with me. As I always say,Give Cards Generously,-Renee'

TRHD CAFFEINATED GOAT | NOT 2 SHABBY SHOP | COPIC COLORING | PAPER PIECING | DELANEYJANECARDS

Today, I got to play with the new Caffeinated Goat from The Rabbit Hole Designs. Jamie has this stamp available in her shop,

I do have a video up on my channel so you can see how this card came together.
https://youtu.be/T6TaB-ow5FA

I layered the papers from the two paper pads I used. And I paper pieced the robe. Who wouldn't pick a sky with clouds robe with grass details? Not Meh! <---lol.

I had to color the eye all bloodshot because I know when I'm tired my eyes are all blood shot.

LAYERING PATTERNS | COPIC COLORED | FUN DETAILS | SUPPORTING SMALL CONTENT CREATORS | #TEAMTINYSWEET

Today, I'm participating in the #teamtinysweet video hop. I have this super quick blog post to share but I'd love it if you hop over to my video and take a peek. https://youtu.be/K_o3Y2fMco0
 Delaney Jane Cards
This hope helps support small channels that are not monetized. This allows you to find new and interesting channels to watch and it allows us as small creators to gain more exposure and grow. YouTube does not advertise on channels under a certain threshold of viewed hours and subscribers so what this means for you is, video after video after video with no "skip ad" ! All you have to do to find the other participants is type #teamtinysweet in the YouTube search bar or click the hashtag here.

There are many reasons why today's video falls into the sweet category for me personally beside the image and design of my card. I can't wait to chat with you in the comments below. Thank you for stopping by and I'd love it if you subscribed and liked my video in a show of support and encouragement for myself. Thank you so much.

I'd encourage you to check out my friend Amanda over at Rise and Procraftinate. If you watch my video you will see why I'd specifically recommend her channel. You can find her here: Rise and Procraftinate

COLLABORATION WITH RISE AND PROCRAFTINATE | USING BACKGROUNDS | REMEMBERING IT IS ONLY PAPER | DJC

I had the opportunity to collaborate with my favorite YouTuber. No offense to any other cardmakers or crafter creators but my friend Amanda at Rise and Procraftinate (my favorite YouTuber) and I are sort of in this YouTube journey together. We have decided to collaborate each month to challenge our own creativity but to also help inspire our viewers. If you haven't had the opportunity to check her out, I'd encourage you to do so: Rise and Procraftinate

What our collaboration for the month of January 2020 was, to create and send each other three backgrounds and to create cards with the items we received. You can watch the entire process video here: https://youtu.be/Hq_DkYhCudU

Let me say, Amanda and I have very different styles but this was the most fun I have had with some cards for quite some time. It was also one of the most challenging.

This first card was easy for me. The background was stunning with the saturated bold colors and the foil accents she added. So finding an image and coloring it to coordinate was super simple.

The second card was also easier for me. The background was heat embossed in gold and it had this super cool swirl pattern to it. I believe she used a marble stamp for this. I thought it looked like whatever this boy was checking out through his diploma.
This card threw me through a loop. She had created this super neat medallion in the center using a homemade stencil and some paints. I wanted to do this super neat technique where I trap the color under clear embossing. She recently did a video where she made a card for her GPA with this technique and I wanted to try it. In the process, I did not create a card that I was particularly fond of. But what I did create was a project with several bits and pieces that I do enjoy. This card is an example of it is just paper. If I screw up a project, it is just paper. it isn't even a whole sheet of paper, it is 1/4 of a sheet of paper. Doesn't seem like much now, does it?

Thank you for stopping by and as always GIVE CARDS GENEROUSLY! -Renee'

MIXING STAMP COMPANIES | HEAT EMBOSSING | PAPER PIECING | USING PATTERNED PAPER | #TEAMTINYFAVORITES

Today, for the #TeamTinyFavorite Video hop I chose to really dig into what were my favorite things in cardmaking. One of the things I really enjoy as a small business owner myself is supporting other small businesses. Funny enough the image stamp sets I used in today's cards were purchased because I "met" the business owner in a Facebook group. I was asking about people mashing stamp companies together in one card like I often do, and she replied that she likes doing that but she owns her own company so she often uses her own items. This turned into a quick conversation something like "what company do you own" "ink blot shop" "hmmm, I'll go look" "thanks" "I placed an order"

I ended up with these two adorable sets. Fat Cats and Playful Pups. I thought the images would work well together. In supporting a small company I am supporting a family, new and creative thought, and someone's dreams. Those things really matter to me.

It was a quick interaction but as a small business owner I know how amazing it feels to put your product in someone's hands. And I wanted her to feel that. If this blog post were a song it would be that one that says "these are a few of my favorite things" ... ;) Because there is so much more. This card is jam packed with favorites.

I, as I spoke a little on, really enjoy mashing companies together. While creating with a singular company is fun, I find more creative joy in mixing and matching. So I used the Ink Blot Shop's image stamps but used a sentiment from Trinity Stamps. While they are a larger company, they are by no means a very large company. This set was also gifted to me at Christmas time by a friend and I really wanted to use it. This set is a senti-mini set called Kind One. I did see coordinating dies on their site and may have to go pick them up. P.S. Thank you Courtney. ;)

I also enjoy paper piecing and wanted to incorporate that technique. I chose to paper piece the dog bed the cat took over with some paper from Doodlebug's Dog Love 6x6 paper pad. I also used this paper pad to do the patterned paper layout for this card. Using patterned paper is another love of mine. And I absolutely wanted to incorporate my love for patterned paper into this card.

My coloring medium of choice is Copic coloring so I used those to color my images. I also finished this card with heat embossing two different ways. Colored heat embossing on dark cardstock (white on black) and Black stamping with clear embossing on white cardstock.  All of these techniques add so much to the final product.

Now that I've probably bored you with the details of my favorites and how I incorporated them, I wanted to talk a little about what is going on in this scene. You see the dog, he got a brand new bed from his owner. And as always the cat had to check it out first. It seems as though the dog is fine with it and takes residency on the cat's rug which is much, much too small. The entire time the bird watches from his perch and notices how kind the dog really is. He could have chased the cat from his new bed but he just laid down on the rug instead.

All this to say, be a dog, be this dog, be kind.

You can watch the entire card come together on my YouTube channel here: Delaney Jane Cards

COLORING WHITE WITH NO WHITE | UNITY STAMP COMPANY BLOG HOP | COPIC COLORING SNOWMAN | LIGHTED GLOW

I had the pleasure of being a GIU 2019 Guest in October of this year. GIU= Growing In Unity. It is sort of an ambassador program Unity Stamp Co has and they allow different paper crafters to be featured with their products every single week of the year. It is a really cool program. If you are ever in need of some really wonderful encouragement that is a great program to participate in. Since I participated in October I was asked to be a part of this hop for the "fall" GIU guests sort of wrap up party.

We are each featuring a Unity stamp in our own style and sharing with you what or how we did it.  One fun thing Unity does, ALWAYS GIVES THINGS AWAY! There is a prize in every one of those GIU weeks as well as prizes all the time on their Facebook page. There will be a list at the end of my post with the entire lineup. I'm last. So if you ended here you have been to all the places! If you are starting here that's fine too. It's not a race. ;)

When you participate in the GIU program you are rewarded with kindness, super helpful comment, lots of encouragement and a stamp set! This was the one I picked this past October so I thought it would be only fitting if I used it for today's card. I really took my time choosing the set I wanted because I have so many Unity stamps there wasn't many of these large sets I didn't have at least a part or piece of.  I could see lots of use for this kit and still have so many ideas! TWINKLE 1/2018 KOTM

This silly snowman was my stamp of choice today. I even used a sentiment from this set. These KOTM sets are really compiled well and you can make complete cards with them. So if you are wondering, yes, they are worth it.

I wanted to color him like the star was glowing on him. I also wanted to color white with no white. I think I've created just that with this combination of colors.

I made sure to carry the glow down the side of the snowman where the snow would bulge out and the star glow would hit it.

Copics Used:
Snow: BG 78, 75, 72, 70
Snowman: B 99, 97, 95, 93, 91 & BG 70
Carrot Nose: YR 04, 23, 27
Scarf: YG 21, 25, 17 & G 29
Sky: B 34, 37, 39
Star & Glow: Y 02, 08

I topped the glow off with some Nuvo Clear Glitter Overlay Pen to add more glow. I ran the background panel through my die cut machine with a Spellbinders oval die and then through with the falling snow embossing folder by Darice. That folder is really oriented for a horizontal card but I just placed my paper in it so I could have this snow falling. Where the embossed falling snow ends, the gel pen falling snow on the snowman is more concentrated.

I heat embossed the sentiment in white using Brutus Monroe Alabaster White Embossing Powder onto the oval I die cut from this panel, why waste paper, right? Then I fussy cut it fairly close to the sentiment leaving a small border.  I adhered this with liquid adhesive, Art Institute clear glue.

I really love how this card turned out. I love it most because up until about an hour ago I was still recovering from a week long illness. So the coloring felt so amazing!

Although this is a blog hop, I do have a process video on my channel if you want to see how I did the coloring or any other part of this card. Or to just stop in and say hi! Delaney Jane Cards YouTube

TRHD Caffeinated Reindeer | 2019 Christmas Card Series | Dashing through the NO!

I created this fun card today with The Rabbit Hole Designs Caffeinated Reindeer. He has to be my favorite reindeer of all times. I am pretty sure Santa's chant needs to be changed to something along the lines of On Dasher, On Dancer, On Prancer and Vixen, On Comet, On Cupid, On Donner and Blitzen <---- maybe this is Blitzen?!? Maybe Santa had him along on these midnight rides the entire time!

I really let the papers and the image do the work. This paper by Pebbles coordinates with this image almost perfectly. This is from the Merry Little Christmas 6x6 pad.

The only thing I really did was piece the papers together and color this image. The card basically created itself. ;)

Well, maybe I helped a little with the heat embossing.

I couldn't resist using all three sentiments included in the stamp set.

INLAY DIE CUTTING | METALLIC CARDSTOCK | ADDING TEXTURE | POPPY STAMPS DIES | CHRISTMAS SERIES 2019

I created this fairly simple set of Christmas cards using a Poppy Stamps Die of hanging ornaments. I inlaid the die outline but didn't inlay the pieces. I layered the panel over some additional metallic cardstock for the shimmer and shine to show through.

I added additional texture with a carta bella embossing folder for touchable texture.
