INSPIRED BY SERIES | MINDY EGGEN DESIGNS | INK BLENDING AND SILHOUETTE IMAGE | JANUARY 2020

I decided to start a new series on my YouTube channel and blog this year called Inspired by. I'm hoping to have a new video and blog post the 7th of every month focusing on a specific content creator and how I was inspired by a project they shared. For my January post I was inspired by Mindy Eggen Designs. She is an amazing paper crafter and artist and her channel can be seen here: Mindy Eggen Designs

I was particularly inspired by a video she did with a Hero Arts card kit. One of the cards in the video had a beautifully ink blended background and the images were silhouetted over the background. She did some white heat embossing on black for her sentiment. One thing I really like about her channel is she has a range of styles and techniques and is really fun to watch. Her videos and channel are encouraging and empowering and I feel like when I watch her I'm empowered to do what she did because she made it easy to understand and explained her process thoroughly. If you haven't had the opportunity to check her out, I'd encourage you to do so.

To begin we should take a look at Mindy's card:

                                                (Image from Mindy Eggen Designs)

You can see from the photo she has bright bold colors in the background and it is so striking against the black silhouettes. She also used some heat embossing in white on black cardstock.

I used the same ink blending idea here in my background. I have the deeper darker shades toward the top of the card and it blends into the bright bold yellow at the bottom of the card. This adds so much glow to this background.

And I did die cut my sentiment as a nod to her die cut images but my image is colored with my Black 100 Copic marker.

I would love to know if you think I did Mindy's card justice. And I'd love to know what you think of this little series I plan to do.

You can watch the entire card come together on my YouTube channel here: Delaney Jane Cards

Thank you for stopping by and as always GIVE CARDS GENEROUSLY!
-Renee'

All items were purchased with my own funds. This video / blog is not sponsored.

Confused about why I named it all Delaney Jane Cards if my name is Renee’?
This entire thing, shop, YouTube channel, blog, etc, it is all named after our angel daughter who passed away in 2013. I made her some promises when she passed away. I would spread joy, I would make her proud and I would speak her name daily. This is one way we choose to honor her memory, and help me keep my promises.
